WhautoVoice FAQ

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. Each one links to the page that goes into detail.

Pricing and plans

How much does WhautoVoice cost, and is there a trial?

Plans are flat monthly fees: Starter US$39, Growth US$179 and Scale US$549. Annual billing gives you two months free. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial and no card is taken. Pick a plan when you are ready under Settings > Subscription & usage. See Understanding subscription plans.

What does "bring your own keys" mean, and who do I pay?

You connect your own Telnyx, Twilio, Plivo or Vonage account and your own OpenAI, xAI Grok, ElevenLabs or Sarvam AI API key. Those providers bill you directly at their published rates. WhautoVoice adds no markup to either. You pay WhautoVoice only the flat plan fee, which includes a set number of processed minutes, our platform fee for handling each call. Starter includes 3,000 a month, Growth 12,000 and Scale 50,000, and extra minutes are half a cent each in blocks of 1,000. There is no overage: if you use up your minutes in a busy month, calls pause until the cycle resets or you add a block, and nothing extra is charged. See Introduction.

What is a processed minute?

One minute of connected call time that WhautoVoice handled, rounded up, whether an AI agent, a call flow, a queue or a live agent took it. It is the fee for the platform's work on that call. Your carrier still bills the call minute and your AI provider still bills the AI usage, both directly to you, and neither appears on a WhautoVoice invoice. Every plan includes a monthly allowance and extra minutes are half a cent each, in blocks of 1,000. See Usage and allowances.

Do agents cost extra?

No. Seats are included in each plan (3 on Starter, 10 on Growth, 25 on Scale) and you can add 5 more for US$49 a month. An agent's talk time counts as processed minutes in the same way as AI agent time, and there is no AI charge for it.

How do I cancel?

Cancel any time under Settings > Subscription & usage. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period. Your numbers stay in your provider account, and you can export contacts and calls before you go from Settings > Data exports. Fees already paid are not refunded.

Providers and AI engines

Which telephony providers and AI engines are supported?

Telephony: Telnyx, Twilio, Plivo and Vonage, with Vobiz, Exotel and Infobip coming soon. AI engines: OpenAI Realtime, xAI Grok and ElevenLabs Agents, chosen per AI agent. See Connect Twilio and Connect an AI engine.

Can I use phone numbers I already own?

Yes. Every number in your provider account can be brought into WhautoVoice, and you can buy new ones from inside the app. Numbers from another carrier need to be ported into your Telnyx, Twilio, Plivo or Vonage account first. See Phone numbers.

Which languages does the AI agent speak?

AI agents follow the caller. Set a default language on the AI agent and, once the caller has said a full sentence in another language, the AI agent switches to match. The app itself ships in eight languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Malay, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal) and Chinese. Change yours from the selector at the bottom of the sidebar.

Which languages is the app itself available in?

Eight. English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Malay, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal) and Chinese. Pick one from the language selector, which sits in the top right of the sign-in and workspace pages and at the bottom of the sidebar once you are in. Arabic flips the whole layout to right to left. The moon and sun icon next to the selector switches between light and dark mode. Both choices are yours alone, follow you onto every device you sign in from, and do not change anything for your teammates. See Profile and preferences.

Can the AI agent transfer to a real person?

Yes. Every AI agent has a Human handoff queue and a transfer_to_agent tool. When the caller asks for a person, or your instructions say to hand over, the call goes to the queue with the transcript so far. If nobody is free it can fall back to voicemail or a callback. See Create an AI voice agent.

How many workspaces can I have?

Starter includes 1, Growth 3 and Scale 10. You can add 3 more for US$59 a month on any plan. Each workspace has its own numbers, provider keys, AI agents, flows, queues and calls. See Workspaces.

Recordings, data and compliance

In many countries, yes. Recording is switched on per number and you decide whether the AI agent or an announcement tells the caller. WhautoVoice gives you the switches; making sure you meet local law is your responsibility. See Call routing.

Where does my data live?

Recordings stay at your telephony provider, in your own account. WhautoVoice stores call metadata, transcripts, contacts and notes for the retention period on your plan (60 days, 6 months or 12 months), then deletes them. Provider credentials and API keys are encrypted at rest and removed when you disconnect.

Are emergency calls supported?

No. The browser softphone and AI voice agents cannot place or receive emergency calls (911, 999, 112, 995, 000). Keep a normal phone line for that.

Apps and hosting

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. Get the WhautoVoice agent app on the App Store or Google Play. On a desktop or laptop, agents use the browser softphone. See Mobile agent app and The softphone.

Can I self-host WhautoVoice?

Not today. WhautoVoice is cloud only. Self-hosted and whitelabel editions are on the roadmap; email hello@whautovoice.com to be told when they ship.

What happens when the trial ends?

Nothing dramatic. Choose a plan and carry on, or do nothing and the account pauses. No card is charged during the trial, and your numbers remain in your provider account either way.
